Things to do on the Costa del Sol

Although it is not necessary it is recommended that you have a hire car in order to get the most out of your visit to Spain!
Costalita is a safe and fun holiday for all the family, walking distance to the beach,  use of a pool & kids pool, the location could not be better for some summer fun.

There is plenty to do other than going to the beach on the Costa del Sol, Urb Paraiso, Ctra N340, KM 166 Estepona, PH 952 88 90 40
The Selenza is a wonderful Spa bright airy clean and almost totally empty on a Sunday! This is just across the road from Costalita so its walking distance as well, 952 899 499.
The Gran Hotel Playa Bella has a nice spa walking distance from the apartment and it too is inexpensive, if a little busy at times. Urbanización Costalita, S/N, 29680 Estepona Ph 952 88 08 68‎
The Hotel Villa Padierna Spa, is pure luxury, this 5 star spa is impossible to describe but if you like Spas, then this is a treat you will never forget! Phone: (34) 952-889-150, Villa Padierna, Los Flamingos, Ctra N340, km 166, Estepona Malaga.

Golf on the Costa del Sol

For all those golf enthusiasts out there, welcome to Costa del Golf, where there are over 90 golf courses to choose from. Here are some of the best courses close to Costalita;

Los Flamingos Golf Course - Located across the road from Costalita in the hills, about 1.5km in land this is a superb golfing resort, complete with 3 different golf courses to play on. At the moment there are some great deals to be found as they are promoting their new course Alfreini Golf.

Estepona Golf Course - One of the oldest most established golf courses on the Costa del Sol, a family club with great vision for the future, many describe it as a tough course, which will challenge all levels of handicap. Great club house atmosphere!

Atayala Golf Course Old - A challenging play of 18 holes with its bunkers well protected. One of the most popular in the area and a must for any serious golfer!

Atayala New Golf Course - Shorter than its sister course, it is no less any easier!

El Paraiso Golf Course - Wide fairways boarded by heavy rough. They say the 7th hole is the most difficult, so play it well!

Finca Cortesin Golf Course, World Match Play Championship. A new golf course, but already considered one of the best on the Costa del Sol, it opened in 2007 and has already hosted the World Match Play Chamionship. A little expensive but worth the investment for the experience alone!

For the best prices and booking Tee times I recommend Seamus Whooly of Golf Experience, not only is he less than 5 minutes drive from Costalita he also has some of the best advice and prices around. Seamus can also supply you with golf club hire. +34 952 887492

The Villa Padierna Tennis club located in Costalita,  is open to guests, perhaps a little more expensive than others but well maintained and walking distance from the apartment.
Horse Riding, we recommend Al Kadar which is near Estepona, superb prices and wonderful Pure Spanish Bred horses, you will never experience anything like it again! Call +34 660448034.
Water sports, certain beach bars have licences to take out Jet Skis, the Blue Dolphin in Estepona also does whale and dolphin spotting.+34 952 781 006

Exploring Marbella and the surrounding areas

With a car at your disposal there are many places you can visit within one day.
Malaga, it's not just an airport! This wonderful city is alive with culture, and should you get the chance the Malaga Feria is not to be missed for its horses, superb traditional dress, food and drink, its just one big street party!
Ronda a wonderful day out to the birth place of bull fighting, visit the bull ring and the famous gorge with wonderful views out over the countryside, Ronda is a special place, set high in the mountains.
Gibraltar, unlike any other place in the world! A mixture of Spanish and English heritage, great for tax free shopping, though a visit to St Michael's caves is a must.
Tariff, a surfers Mecca, this vibrant sea side town, with its surfers crowding it all summer long is home to some of the most wide open beaches with pure white sand and the freezing cold Atlantic waves crashing at your feet. It could not be more opposite to the Costa del Sol!
Marbella Old Town, ideal for a nice evening out, with its tiny cobbled streets packed with tapas bars, and restaurants in the famous Orange Square. Remember in most Andaluican towns the shops close from 2 till 5pm then reopen till 8pm
Puerto Banus, a great night out, dinner first then dance away till 7am the next day, bar after bar to choose from. During the day, you will find all the designer labels shops, from Chloe, to D&G, Puerto Banus is a shopalholics dream.
La Canada, an extensive shopping centre above Marbella town open from 10am till 10pm, but closed most Sundays. Here you will find all the fun brands, Zara and Zara Home, Mango, Sefera, Massimo Dutti as well as some designer boutiques ...bring space in your suitcase for all that shopping!
Granada if you get up early enough you can do Granada in a day, home to the Alhambra palace; you are advised to book your tickets well in advance. In fact you can actually take an organised tour with a coach service and pass to the palace included, a much more relaxing way of visiting one of Andalusia's most historic locations.

For the Kids

Supersol play centre, while the parents do the shopping the kids can jump around this enormous indoor Jungle Gym, complete with air conditioning, trust me a welcome break mid August!
Selwo Safari Park, this is located between Costalita and Estepona, its well sign posted and a great day out, though two pieces of advice, best avoided in July and August because of the high temperatures, also bring a packed lunch and drinks as the prices inside the park are rather high and the quality is not great.
Be prepared to walk! There are buses around certain parts but you will be required to walk. The park itself is wonderful and ideal for kids over the age of 5 and up to their teens, the animals are housed in large open areas and you can even be around for the feeding times if you are lucky. The best time to visit the park is early morning and obviously spring, autumn and winter. Prices start at; 17€ for Children and 21€ for Adults.
Fuengirola Zoo
As zoos go this is one of the nicest around. Ideal for children of all ages especially those little ones in a buggy, this is a small but interactive location with plenty to see. Perhaps a little hard to find as it is within the town of Fuengirola, but it is well sign posted.

The Best Beach Bars & Local Restaurants

Although Costalita has two wonderful beach bars, Pepes beach and La Antigua, you might like to explore a little further.
We personally recommend Senora Playa, for its fun, food and entertainment as well as lovely atmosphere and decoration. Plus during the summer there is often live music at sunset.
Bikini Beach in Estepona town, this a lovely new beach club, with spacious beds and great food at a reasonable price.
Pariaso del Sol which is the next beach bar down after Pepes beach, (a bit of a walk) this is a nice location with great views out over the Mediterranean, and if the weather is a bit off, they can close the glass curtains on the bar, but you still have the view. A reasonable menu, though sardines on the spit are a house speciality when in season!
Great Restaurants all within walking distance.
La Sal, Cancelada +952 888 369
El Carnicero, Cancelada+952 886 307
La Pozada, Cancelada( no number but just a few doors down from El Carnicero!)
Al Antigua, Costalita (less than a 4 minute walk from the apartment, leaving the main gate, go left, then right down to the beach you will see La Antigua on your left hand side)
Pepes Beach, Costalia (same as La Antigua, but a little further on to the left)
Osaka, CC Costa del Sol +34952885751 Great Sushi bar across the main road near the Repsol Garage in Centro Comercial Costa del Sol.
